“The slip bob is a bob that just kisses the shoulders, with some invisible layers,” explains Hershesons expert stylist Dale Herne. “There’s no heavy line so it feels very soft but some some precision. It gives it that slightly hot feel but still looks luxurious and elegant, thanks to the flick through the ends. It’s understated, which is exactly what makes it feel so modern.”
The understated nature of the cut comes from its slightly longer length and subtle movement, making it perfect for anyone wanting to step into the world of bobs without committing to a shorter, sharper style.
“I think we’re seeing a real return to ’90s minimalism,” adds Herne. “Hair is looking cleaner, simpler and a bit more understated again. Instead of lots of layers or perfectly sculpted curls, it’s about healthy-looking hair with just enough movement to give it shape. The soft bend through the mid-lengths feels really modern because it’s effortless rather than over-styled.”

It’s less about copying one person’s hair and more about showing your stylist the overall finish and movement you’re after.”
